“O bhikshus and wise men,
Just as a goldsmith would test his gold
By burning, cutting, and rubbing it,
So you must examine my words before accepting them,
Not merely out of reverence for me.”
-Sakyamuni Buddha |

“As long as you accept the two,
Appearances of dependent arising, which are unfailing,
And emptiness
Separately, and see them as different,
You still have not realized the thought of the Buddha.”
-Lama Je Tsongkhapa
(The great scholar-yogi, the founder of Gelug tradition of Tibetan Buddhism) |

“Veiled by ignorance,
The minds of man and Buddha appear to be different;
Yet in the realm of mind essence they are both of one taste.
Sometimes they will meet each other in the great Dharmadhatu.”
-Milarepa
(The great Yogi of Tibet) |

“Religion is to promote human values. There are many different kinds of mental dispositions amongst humans. So, the approach of religion also needs to be different. Wherever I give an explanation of Buddhism I make it clear that those who follow other faiths should continue following their own faith and tradition. I do not promote Buddhism. I am here to promote human values through our tradition as our contribution to the promotion of human values. Amongst the millions of people around the world there may be some who have a mental disposition that makes them feel Buddhism is more suitable for them. They do not mind accepting Buddhism. But one you become a Buddhist you must respect all the other faiths, especially your past tradition and faith. One should not look down on others’ traditions simply because it does not suit you. There are millions of other human beings who benefit from practicing their faiths.”
-His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama
